Background
We relocated to Granville County in 1981 My son enter Hix School: I obtained a P-T Professor position in College transfers-Psychology 101 & Counselor/Recruiting position with Vance-Granville Community College; my h usband opened Oak Hill Mini-Mart in 1982 at 7686 Goshen Road in Oak Hill. The store was attached to the front of my mother's Antebellum (Greek Revival Home) the three of us toyed with idea of developing this into a recreation center, etc. But due to popular demand it became a game room and lounge. By 1992, we lost interest in this entrepreneurial. Our son was in management; I was in Vance County Schools; and my husband started a new business. Back to the drawing board – I organized Women Involved in Community Action, 1995 and became a 501 C, 2002. In 2002 we leased the lounge under new management. It was destroyed by a fire in 2003. Unfortunately our Greek Revival Home [of Jeff & Etta Thorp Satterwhite, Jeff, a sone of Harry Satterwhite, Sr of the 1800's Satterwhite Shop] serving as WIICA's home base was also destroyed.
